BOARDING HOUSE THEFTS

YOUNG MAORI IMPRISONED; Caught as the result of a trap set in a boarding house in Auckland where money had been disappearing, George Cairns, a Maori labourer, aged 18 (Mr. Aekins), appeared in the Police Courii yesterday before Mr. J. Morling, S.M., on four-charges of theft of money ranging from Is to £2, and totalling £4 7s. The offences had occurred between October 13 ami, 31, said DetectiveSergeant" Trethewey. Accused had, been admitted to probation on June 8, and on June 19 had been sentenced at Whakatane to two months' imprisonment. t Accused did not smoke or drink, said Mr. Aekins. Accused was sentenced to one month s imprisonment.
