SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS

FINAL MEETING OF YEAR LOCAL WORKS PRESENTED The final meeting of the Society of Musicians for this year was held in the Overseas League rooms last Tright. The first part of the programme was contributed by the following associate and circle members:—Miss Gladys Mallabond, Miss Laurie. Young, Miss Doris Foote ? Mr. W. Stoupe, Miss Phyllis Lin bridge, Miss Florence Mays, Miss Joan Buckley, Miss Nancy Vaughan, and Miss Norma Joll. Ensemble vocal items concluded this part of the programme. Local compositions were theso comprising songs by Miss Dorothy Franchi, and Miss Lois Walls. The singers were Miss Mary Jellie, Mr. James Leighton, and Miss Raeclial Mawhinney. Miss Theo Halpin was heard in pianoforte solos and a Maori sonata for violin and piano composed by Alfred Hill was played by Miss Helen Gray and Miss Dora .7u.lson. Mr. H. Luseombe's songs, which included a quartet, were sung by Miss Hazel Thompson, Miss Gwynneth Davies, INIr. Ramsay Howie and Miss Mawhinney. Miss Wall's, string quartet concluded the programme. Dr. Kenneth Phillips presided over a large attendance of members.
