ALARMS IN ENGLISH TOWNS

SO An air-raid warning was sounded this morning in four towns . ' , Jn South-East England. Three of the towns are on the coast. f ' None of the aeroplanes were seen, as they were hidden in low' cloud, but at one town the engines of a large number of machines were heard. Three thousand children were evacuated from their schools in orderly fashion. . The sound of firing was heard by the inhabitants of one of the coastal towns. No information has been received as to the nature of the raid. In all four towns the all-clear signal was given a few minutes after. An air-raid warning was sounded in London this morning. [The all-clear signal was given five minutes later. Two aeroplanes were seen passing over a town in North-East England at nine o'clock this morning. One woman says that she : distinctly saw a swastika on one of the machines, which was being pursued. The sound of machine-gun firing was heard.
