BOUT AT TOWN HALL McGINTY DEFEATS ATKINS' ENDING IN FIFTH ROUND Making their debut at tlio Town. Hall last evening, two Australian wrestlers, Ironman McGinty and Tiger Atkins, gave a disappointing display in the first professional heavy-weight bout staged by the recently-formed New Century Sports Club, and the smallcrowd that attended had little reason for enthusiasm. The contest ended in the fifth round when Atkins was tin-: able to continue after submitting to a Boston crab. The loser had previously gained a fall in the third round. McGinty .was content to work on tlie defensive, using his superior strength to escape from punishing holds. Atkins attempted to put some lifa into the contest, mixing fairly ;solid myt-work with occasional drop-kicks and flying tacjdes, but. neither man showed any great degree of skill in applying or counteri .g holds. Fall to Atkins . After being worried in hcadlocks at the start of the third, McGinty was dropped by three flying tackles and succumbed to a press. Atkins tried the same tactics in the •fifth round, with a few drop-kicks thrown in, but 'McGinty, after reeling uncertainly, i fell on his opponent, who was an easy victim for a Boston crab. McGinty put plenty of pressure into tho hold and Atkins, whoso back was strained, was unable to continue. McGinty's weight was lGst, and Atkins' 15st Sib. An interesting professional welter-weight ; contest between Bob Williams, list, and Orb ;McCowatt, 31st 'Jib, resulted in a win for Williams on points after each had secured a fall. Williams took a fall with a press following a dump in the first round, and McCowatt evened in the third with a press. Williams attacked continually, showing the greater science. Lively Contest Frank Baker, lOst 81b, and Rob Smurthwaitc, list, wero in a lively mood in a professional welter-weight contest, which resuited in a draw.
