DOCTOR'S CERTIFICATE
CASE AGAINST MOTORIST MAGISTRATE NOT SATISFIED "My experience of medical certificates has not been a happy one," said Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Onehunga Police Court yesterday, when Alfred Victor Beeson (Mr. Butler) was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-'jar. Constable S. Z. Olver told the Court that on the evening of October 20 he found defendant fast asleep in a stationary car in Grey Street, Onehunga, and when awakened ho was very drunk. Sergeant S. A. Brown stated that Dr. A. L. Noakes, who examined defendant, certified that he was intoxicated.
Mr. Butler urged that the circumstances were outside the usual category. He produced a medical certificate showing that defendant was suffering from a form of mental debility. The certifying doctor not being in Court, Mr. Levien declined to accept the, certificate as evidence and adjourned, the case until to-day, when lie would hear the doctor's testimony .in the city Court.
