TRENTHAM TRACK TRIALS ON.THE GRASS SOLID MILE BY YOURS TRULY DAINTY SUE GOES PLEASINGLY Trentham horses engaged *.n the New Zealand Cup and Stewards - Handicap at Riccarton were given, important trials on Saturday morning, says the Evening Post Tho weather was fine and the inside of the trial grass track was slightly dead after rain Yours Truly (H. Duncan) beat Tooley Street L;,(TI Biggs) and' Arctic King (S. Wilson)' over a mile in 1.43 3-5. Tooley Street soon opened a break and was four lengths clenr of Yours Truly at the. half-tnile in 50 4-.">s. but Yours Truly ran up in tho straight and won by a length and a-half after running the final half in 52 4-ss. The effort of Yours Truly was most attractive. Tooley Street, who is to be ridden in th= Cup by H. ,N. Wiggins, also went satisfactorily, as he is better when kept in behind, which will probably bo his tactics at Riccar■Tton. Arctic King.,, with much the worst of " the weights, was always many lengths back and finished eight lengths away, but he is a poor track worker .when approaching his best form.

Peerless (J. McCauley) beat Might (J. Law(er) by half a length over a mile in 1.47. the Hast half-mile in 34 2-ss. Neither was fully extended - Trebor is not going to Riccarton, but will be reserved for middle-distance events at provincial meetings during the next couple of months. '' Dainty Sue iS. Paramore) ran away from Silver (A. G. P. Newnham) at the end of se'rea furlongs in 1.33. the last_ half-mile in 545. Dainty Sue is engaged in the Riccarton /'" Handicap, nine furlongs, next Saturday, and. as she is improving ail the time at present, she is likely to return to the winning list while in the south. Silver River will probably be handled in his. hurdle engagements by Newnham, who rode him on the final day. >tt Trentham. • , , Globe Trotter (Newnham) was doing it well within himself over five furlongs in 1.0. the f last balf-mile in 535. H. .lelford never asks • the best of this horse in his gal ops B'emilivre (W. L. Aitken) had Kobi (Paramorel as his companion over six furlongs, and he was on the bit all the way in recording 1.18; the last half-mile in 52 2-fts. Kobi. hard ridden, beat him to the post narrowly Hinerawe (Lawler) ran seven furlongs In 3.31, the last half-mile in 535. She went -very "fast along "the back.' Lady Drake wan given pacing work only. ' ..n,i Brunhild (Paramore) was a length and 2-half in front of Yogi (Aitken) nftcr dashing ' over three furlongs in 3i> 2->s. Vogi has Dteked up again during the past few dnjs and tho travelling experienced should do hi.n a deal of good. Later on he is likel.v to develop very useful staying for J"The Welcome Stakes cand dates Enr ch (Duncan) and Absolve 'Newnham) sprinted half a mile on the two-vcar-old crass circuit in.,sls. the former finishing much the more ; resolutely. Prior to the Wellington meeting there was a doubt about which of these stablemates was the better, but Enrich appea rs "° to be definitely superior and he is the nuer cult. • HORSES FOR RICCARTON NORTH ISLAND VISITORS [by TKLKORAI'fI CORItKSt'OXDKNT] WELLINGTON. Vorfiv Lights, Classrorm and Duncannon S. Reid" was dup to take his team south, bat he postponed his departure until Wednesday on account of the weather \ours Trulv will go down .to-morrow ami U. Teuonl r" *"ill leave on Wednesday with Enrich. Globe Trotter and Dainty/ Sue. Bcnupurtir looks in great order. It ij unlikely that the anticipated meeting between him and Bnulivr?. in the Canterbury Cup will take place, as present intentions are that Beaulivre will run only in the Stewards Handicap and the Derby. /' ADDITIONAL MOUNTS —i— RIDERS FOR WHANG AREI '*"• Additional riding engagements announced for the Whansrarci Racing Club's Spring Meeting on Friday and Saturday arc as follows: Ritchie.—Roy it?
