TRANSPORT CLUB'S CEREMONY

[The Auckland'' Transport Bowlinp; Club held its opening ceremony on Saturday afternoon in ideal weather conditions. In welcoming a largo attendance of members and friends,, the president, Mr. 0. Jansen, said ho was pleased to note that the visitors included from almost all -the clubs in the centre, as well as officials representing the . centre and a ] so the Auckland Transport Board.

BUCKLAND'S* beach club Ton members of the Auckland Centre, ineluding two members from tho Dominion Council, attended the opening of the Buckland's Beach Bowline Club's season. Mr. Harry Hawkes, Buckland's Beach president, said the club felt honoured in having its delepate. Mr. E. Inder. in the position of president' of the Auckland Centre. Mr. Inder was one of the founders (if the Buckland's Beach Club, and was also a life member, and his services on the centre were highly valued by bowlers. Mr. Hawkes'welcomed the deputation of members from the centre, also many visitors. Mr. Prescott. a member of the Dominion Council, congratulated Mr. Hawkes on bavins been elected president of the Bncklands Beach Club for the second year in succession. and referred to the success of the club in not only winning the pennant last year, but also in bavins one of its members as nresident of the centre. He paid a compliment to Mr. Inder for his long services to the came. ~ Before officially opening the green. Mr. Hawkes expressed the gratification of the flub :ror the great assistance it had received from the Domain Board, and also referred to the splendid work of -Mr. J. Scott, superintendent and greenkeeper. He expressed regret 8t thi: recent death of Mr. b. Dickson, a life nirmber.
