AUSTRALIA TO BRITAIN ANNOUNCEMENT OF PRICES 136s 4id FOR BUTTER THE SCHEDULE FOR MEAT By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received October 30, 1.40 a.m.) SYDNEY. Oct. 20 The Federal Minister of Commerce, Senator McLeay, to-night announced tho prices tho British Government was paying for Australian meat and butter. Tho Minister said tho meat agreement would cover the 12 months ending September 30, ] 9 JO. Tho prices agreed upon for the principal lines were as follows: — Lamb.—"A" range from 7 17-64(1 per lb. to 4 29-64 d, according to quality. Mutton.—From 3 33-6ld per lb. to 2 57-6-1 d per lb. Beef.—Frozen, first quality: Ox hinds, 5 15-64 d per lb. Crops, 3 9-32(1 per lb. Second quality: Hinds.—4 19-64 d per lb. Crops.—3 13-64(1 per lb. Pig meats. —First quality: 7Jd per lb. Second quality: 7 3-16 d per lb. All prices are in Australian currency, f.o.b. A further provision is that 90 per cent of tho purchase price will bo paid upon shipment. There will bo no disturbance to existing channels of distribution. The price to bo paid for butter will bo 136s 4}d per hundredweight, Australian currency, f.0.b., for choicest, and slightly less for lower grades. The terms of the agreement relating to dairy produce other than the price of butter will bo announced in a few days.
