CENTENNIAL SCHEMES
FRANKLIN EXECUTIVE [from OUR OWN correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Thursday The Franklin (Zone D) Centennial Executive confirmed the decision of the chairman, Mr. J. N. Massev, M.P., at the outbreak of war, suspending the centennial activities of the executive. It was agreed that.the sub-commit-tees, which already had their centennial memorial schemes well advanced, namely, Papukuni, Tuukau, s?ukekohe East and Waiau Pa, should bring their projects to finality, and that any other sub-committee would be at liberty to do so. The executive would delay its centennial activities during the war. in accordance with the Government regulations, the executive resolved itself into a patriotic committee to supervise the collection of funds in the district for patriotic purposes. A motion was carried to the effect that the executive was of the opinion that it should not bp required to forward its funds to the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council, but should have power itself to expend the fund for any purposes it deemed necessary.
