EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS
THE HUNTERVILLE AREA [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PALMERSTON NORTH, Thursday Households in the Hunterville area were startled this morning at about 9.1.5 o'clock by an earthquake of a jolting type. There was no preceding rumble. The intensity of the earth movement was sufficient to cause articles on shelves to . rattle and houses to croak". In the Waituna district the settlers report, a shake similar to the one experienced a few years ago when chimneys in the area were broken. It was not of the same severity. Shortly before six o'clock this evening a slight tremor was felt in. Feilding.
