BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH
At a meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council the Birkenhead Transport Company, Limited, sought approval of an increase in bus fares in the borough. The proposed amendments are that" the workers' weekly ticket to Beach Haven be 4; 6il. l>ut the bus would rim right to the beach; the tickets for apprentices bo cancelled; and present concession rates be increased by threepence a card. All I cash fares are to remain as at present. The/ manager of the company stated I higher costs and petrol increases had made the action necessary. The council decided to approve the new fares, but the matter has to be decided upon by the Licensing Authority.
