AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

The Auckland provincial amateur snooker championship for the Billiards, Limited, Cup was continued Jast evening at Messrs. Billiards, Limited's, showrooms, when games in Ihe quarter-finals were commenced. R Whitford defeated 11. D. Brinsdcn, (11—10, 7:s—:S(i, and R. Carrick defeated J. J. Shepherd. Brinsdcn endeavoured to scoro points from snookers, but Whitford's accuracy prevailed and lie had a comfortable margin at the finish.

Shepherd declaring in his favour with Ihe last two balls remaining, Cfirrick's consistency proved too inucli for Shepherd in Die second game. Shepherd required a snooker with the last three bolls. C'arriek potted Ihe blue, and Shepherd. in endeavouring to snooker his opponent, potted Ihe pink', for C'arriek to win by 21 points. G. Hogan will play J. Proctor at 7.30 o'clock tonight, and W. Wh.vle will meet the title-holder, L. F. W. Holdsworth, at 5.30 o'clock.
