Sullivan, drew the attention of all llasinillcrs to a notice appearing in the Gazette to-day, wherein the flax-milling industry has been declaied a licensed industry under part 111. of the Industrial Efficiency Act. This is in accordance with the industrial plan adopted by the industry some time ago. but up to the present the. provision in the plan to licence flaxmills has not been given effect to. "The present Government," said the Minister, "has shown a creat interest i>i the flax-milling industry and has spent many thousands of pounds in an endeavour to bring about, rehabilitation of th.- industry. The licensing oi (lax-mills lias now been deemed desirable in the interests ot the industry as a whole. I would point, out that to avoid any delay in the issue of licences to those mills which are operating to-day the Gazette notice provides that applications shall bo lodged not later than October 14, and that licences are to be issued by October 21. It is hoped by means ot licensing to bring a further measure of the rehabilitation plan intooperation and to ensure that economic mills are git en a reasonable chance ot continuing operations.'
