Sir Nevile was present at sill meetings of the Cabinet, also at No. I'O Downing Street for four hours before leaving for Germany, and thus was fully capable of explaining to Herr Hitler any points arising, from the Note. It is stated in a despatch from Berlin that the only basis for negotiations acceptable to Herr Hitler would be President 19 1 8 proposals—whereby Poland would be given only such territory as was inhabited by Polea—and free access to the sea. It is expected that Herr Hitler will deliver a written reply to Sir Nevile Henderson this morning, says the Berlin correspondent of the British United Press.
