FOOD AT INFIRMARY

REPLY TO COMPLAINT A complaint about the food served to patients in the Mclvelvey Ward of tho Auckland Infirmary was replied to in a report from tho infirmary committee to tho Auckland Hospital Board at a meeting last night. It was stated that investigation had shown that the food was of excellent quality and variety and was well served. Tho tea, it was stated, was not sorved cold, and there was no truth whatever in the statement that inmates had to depend upon what their friends brought. The only food taken to patients was occasional cakes and fruit.

At a later stage of the report the committee recommended the provision of a hot-plato for warming dishes in both the McKelvey and Rowe wards. The report was adopted.
