Over 1.500.000.000 dollars have been erased from the New York Stock Exchange market values in the last fortnight. Turnover to-day totalled 8-50,000 stocks and shares, compared with 840,000 on the closing day of last week. LOWER AUCKLAND PRICES WITHDRAWAL OF QUOTATIONS Similar reaction to that shown on Wall Street and in Australia greeted the announcement of tlio non-aggression pact between Germany and Russia on New Zealand Stock Exchanges yesterday. Share levels showed a marked decline over a wide range of issues. The initial reaction on the Auckland Kxchange came at the afternoon call j and, although some scrip was marked j down fairly severely, the majority of j investors withdrew quotations until some further indication is given of developments in Europe. Leading Australian industrials, as usual, acted as a barometer to the general trend. The most marked setback was suffered by Broken Hill Proprietary, but other prominent issues were not immune. Banks and insurances also were affected, but New Zealand shares were not marked down to the same extent as overseas scrip.
