CUP READING
Sir, —I notice that persons are fined for the innocent entertainment of cupreading in tearooms, and that this law of about the year 1700 has not been repealed. Of course, it is interesting. The readers of these cups are no doubt clear-visioned character readers, and just add a little talk, to make it amusing. Are there any other unrepealed ancient laws of which we are ignorant? If J lived in a city I would think it great fun to have my cup read, noting the astuteness of the reader and admiring it. I know full well it is not the leaves of the tea remaining 111 the cup. Jt is the render's natural insight into human character and the gift of the gab. Everyone knows this. Why not pay for your fun ? These old laws of-our predecessors should not lie in force, only the law of honesty and in respect to one's life, the law of love. Why some of the Bible predictions which were fulfilled and are being fulfilled would be by law unlawful. The beloved Man of Galilee told the woman of Samaria all she ever did and He told His disciples that greater things than He had done they could do. Is that illegal? I am only a women, I would like to know. Why not wipe out all ancient ignorant laws?" Why not? Let us be up to date. Time marches on! Just A Woman.
