THE WESTERN WALL CONSIDERED "UNCONQUERABLE" fFROM A SPECIAL CORRESPON'DENT] LONDON, July 31 Germany's "Western Wall" was last week described as "finished and unconquerable" by Lieutenant-Genera) Jacob, of the German Corps 6f Engineers, in an article on the western line of fortifications in the MilitaerWochenblatt, a leading German military weekly newspaper. A third of all the cement-mixing machines tn the Reich, LieutenantGeneral Jacob reveals, were employed on the work of construction. They mixed approximately 6,000,000 tons of cement, or more than a third of the total German output. Nearly 25,000,000 cubic feetfy of wood were used in building the emplacements. The German State Railways delivered 8000 truck-loads of materials daily during the construction period, while canal traffic also accounted for the transport of large quantities of lefe i" .Considerably more than 16,U00 lorries, commandeered from all over Germany, woro in -uao.
