PHYSICAL WELFARE
INSTRUCTORS APPOINTED DUTIES UNDER RECENT ACT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Thursday The appointment of three men and three women as instructors to give effect lo the physical welfare proposals in the Physical Welfare and Recreation Act was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, to-dly. To begin with, the instructors will operate in the Wellington, Waikato and Southland districts, and their duties will be to assist organisations interested in physical welfare.
Miss-Rona Stephenson; who lias been trained in physical educational* work in America, and Mr. Lance jCross. formerly physical director for the Y.M.C.A. at Hamilton, are to go to the Waikato district. . Miss. , Noeline Thomson, who was trained in Australia, and Mr.. Stewart McNicol,- a well-known footballer, will instruct in the Wellington district. Miss Laila Story, who was trained in England, and Mr. Lloyd Woods, who was a lecturer at Otago University, will go to Southland. Before departing to take up their duties the instructors were farewelled by the Minister, who emphasised the importance of the work they had to do.
