NEW ZEALAND SOCIETY , LADY GALWAY ( PATRONESS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] "WELLINGTON. Thursday The annual meeting of the New Zealand Crippled Children's Societv was presided" over by Mr. J. M. A. Ilott, of' Wellington. Delegates were present from all branches except Auckland, whose representatives were on the limited "express delayed by slips on" tha Main Trunk line.

The Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, commended a remit suggesting that a scholarship should be .founded upon'the Nuffield Trust, up to £IOOO, for the purpose of employing a .young doctor to survey the work of the society throughout New Zealand, with - particular regard to the prevention of crippling diseases, causes of disability, methods of treatment, affer-care, and placement. A. Wellington remit recommended an appeal to the New Zealand executive to make £IO.OOO available for special, orthopaedic hospital equipment. Dr. Watt opposed this as being a duty on hospitals and discussion was deferred. Viscountess Galway was elected patroness and Sir Charles Norwood president

MEETING IN HAMILTON APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday A meeting of people interested in the work of the New Zealand Crippled Children's Society, for the purpose of forming a committee to work in conjunction with the Auckland branch, was held in Hamilton yesterday, Mr. W. H. Paul presiding. A letter was read from the Auckland branch asking for the co-operation of the Hamilton Rotary Club m persuading local bodies in the district to give assistance for the work. Mr. A. M. Bisle.v, president of the Hamilton Rotary Club, said that the club was not prepared to take over the scheme, but might be able to help. It was decided to leave the matter in the - hands of the chairman, who would confer with the secretary of the club. "
