ROYAL AKARANA CLUB ■% DINGHY SAILING RACES ' Tho Royal Akarana Yacht Club huld,i the • third of its winter series of races for ; "sail- T ing dinghies on Saturday afternoon. The races started and finished off the clubhouse * and were sallied in a steady breeze from .• the south. In the first, race Lovebug and .Cockle crossed the lino together,, with the others a little distance astern. Lovebug went into the lead and on the completion of the first round was 45s ahead of Cockle, with Midget ... third. Lovebug further improved her position in the final round and was Erst home. The race started at 2.15 p.m. The finishing times were:—Lovebug (scr), 2h 4-lm 565; Cockle (lm), 2h 4Gm 21& i Midget (2m), 2h ■>om 40s; Kohu (2'/ini), 2h 51m 225; Gazelle (3m), 2m 51m 465; Scram (3m). . 2b 53m 19s; Pipi (4m), : 2h 53m 265;-' Scarab (9m), 2h 57m; Zoe (8m), 2h 57m 495; Scamp (6m), 2h 58m 325. Pet carried _ away her mast when close-to the last mark, but was provided with another mast in time to compete in the next race. • . - : The result on corrected times was:—Lovebug (S. Mason), 1; Cockle (G. Kells), 2; Scarab (It. Aimer), 3. The second race brought out 13 competitors and when the' last flag fell Lovebug crossed the line first, with Cockle nnd Midget close up. Lovebug , passed tho compass dolphin well ahead of Cockle, but in the close haul to Resolution buoy Cockle gained on the leader, and out- ' sailed her on the next leg of the course. Toward the finish, however, Lovebug ahead of Coqkle when" they met "on the opposite tacks. Cockle on port promptly gave way to Lovebug on starboard, but <se good finish was marred by Lovebug coming round on port tack on top of Cockle, which she fouled and was disqualified.: The race started at. 3.25 p.m. The finishing times were:—Cockle (lVim),- 4h 7m 21s; Midget (sm). 4h Sm 355; Gazelle (7m). 4h 30m 20s; Kohu (7m), -4h 10m 17s; Pet (10m), 4h 10m 395: Pipi (7m), 4h 10m 525; Scram (7m). 4h 11m lf)s; Wish Wynne (14m). 4h 12m 525; Firefiy (11m), 4h 15m 275; Zoe (11m), 4h 17m 10s; Scarab (11m). 4h 17m -ISs; Scamp (12m). 17m 475. - The result on corrected times was:—Wish Wynne (R.
