COURT FOR WOMEN
HUNDRED SUMMONED ALLEGED TRAFFIC BREACHES [from oub own correspondent] SYDNEY, July 29 Typists, society girls and suburban matrons will minglo in a fashion display at the Sydney Traffic Court next ■Wednesday, when the first special Court for women will be held. One/hundred women will bo charged, gome with jay-walking, others with having failed to obey the traffic signals. The police, fearing that many of the women will be inclined to argue, anticipate a difficult sitting, but they hare played a trump card in appointing as prosecutor in the court tall and handsome" Sergeant Lucas, whose persuasive manner mav calm many an angry feminine mind. • Thd Court will open at 9.30 a.m., and unless some men get in early and occupy seats, only women vrill be in the courtroom —except the prosecuting staff and the constahles who will give evidence. All the nomen have been "requested'' to attend. If they fail to appear, a summons will be issued. A summons, will mean an increase in costs, playable on conviction.
