MATCHES IN AUCKLAND ) IDEAL CONDITIONS PREVAIL VARIOUS CLUB COMPETITIONS i ■ __ •: EXCELLENT SCORES RETURNED Competitions were held by the various local golf clubs during the week-end. Conditions were ideal, as the weather was fine and courses were in good order. Some excellent scores were returned in the second round of the E. ft. Bloomfield Bowl nt Middlemore.-With a splendid round of 75, C. H. Knight led the

field, his net score of 69 being one better than those of W L. "Wiseman, F. G. Lintott and P. C. Savage. The T avlor Bowl match-play competition was continued at Titirangi, and there were a number of interesting games in the fourth round. R. JO. Alpe and E. Ohlson each wort at the 19th, while W. J. Davidge and J. H. Young retained their places. A bogey handicap was won by J. I. Franklin'with a card of 3 up.

Threo matches were decided in the semi-finals of the Jubilee Cup nt North Shore. J. A. Penman, who won the concurrent senior Stableford, defeated A. W. Christmas by a large margin, but TV. Wheeler and G. Henlo won at the 19th and 18th holes respectively.

In the Edwards trophy at Akarana, T. L. Lawson and I. W. Houston each had a comfortable win, but an extra hole was necessary before J. D. Lewis accounted.for P. Quinn. A. S. Robinson anjl N. F. Cooper wero .the respective winners of senior and junior grade medal matches which were played in conjunction with the Tyler Memorial Cup.

.Good caids were returned at Remuera, T. H. C. Cauehey being successful in a medal handicap after tieing with A. Trounson. Tile "winners of a similar competition at Orakei -were H. "VV. Cameron and It. Jensen.

The Mingay Cup at Pupuke was won by N. P. Coleman, while senior and junior medal matches which.were played concurrently were by by H. Y. Gray and D. S. Lamb respectively. Thu winners of a mixed foursomes bogey handicap'at Maungakiekie wore Mrs. Sheppard and L. E. Vivian.
