MR.'H. W. CRAWFORD'S DEATH ■ / ; WORK FOR NORTH AUCKLAND

Saturday ' The death occurred suddenly this morning of Mr. ' Hugh Wentworth Crawford, managing -director of the Northern Advocate, of Whangarei, aged ft- Mr. Crawford was one of the bestVnown men in Whangarei and throughout North Auckland, where lio had &p?nt practically tlie whole of his life. ■ Born at Maungakaramea, Mr. Crawlora was a son of the late Mr. William Crawford, a pioneer settler. He was educated at tho Maungakaramea School " n 'l fater at the Whangarei High whool. After leaving school he went the Auckland Training College and became a' schoolteacher. At various times he was a teacher at Kara, Piaka jna Towai. He was first assistant at til e Whangarei School prior to being to a similar position at kpsom School. J" 1918 Mr. Crawford purchased <i . rolling interest in the Northern jobhshing Company.
