SCHOOL BOXING
EVENTS AT KING'S CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED TITLE RETAINED BY MOORE Spirited boxing of a high order was witnessed by a large crowd of parents and friends last evening when the King's School championships were finalised in the school gymnasium. The preliminary contests were decided on Thursday afternoon. The award for the most scientific boxer was won by Hay, of .Bruce House, while Hansard, of Alarsden House, was adjudged the best loser. The inter-house cup was won by School House with a total of ]29 points, Mnrsden being second, with 72 points. JJruce House gained 60 points and Selwyn House scored 15. The principal match of the evening was the heavy-weight contest between Moore, holder of the title, and Hogan. who sportingly challenged in, order to give Moore a bout. Jlogaii jvns 'unable to stay the full distance after he had stood up well to a heavier and longer-reaching opponent. The officials for the evening were as follows:—Referee, Mr. N. C. McLean; Judges, Messrs. G. Bush and A. Joplin; seconds, Messrs. V. and W. Hogg; timekeeper, Mr. AV. G. Kerry. ' Following were the results of the bouts contested last evening:— Feat lier-weight. Semi-finals: Morton (.School) beat Cass (Marsden); Cresswell (School) beat Kiernander (School). Final: Morton beat Cresffwell. Light-weight.—Second round: Morton (School) heat Fox (School); Dove (Bruce) beat Ludbrook (Selwyn): W K. Erson (Bruce) beat Arnold (Selw.vn); Hanwird (Marsden) beat Copeland-Smith (School). Semi-finals: Morton beat Dove; Erson beat Hansard. Final: Erson beat Morton. Middle-weight.—Semi-finals: D. C. Erson (School) beat Clarke (School); Hay (Brnce) henf,,X. IT. Brett .(Marsden). Final: Hay brat Erson. Welter-weighf.—Semi-finals: Grant (Marsden) beat Brett (Marsden): Steward (Marsden) won from Steele (Bruce) by default. Final: Steward beat Grant. Cruiser-weight. Semi-finals: Hughes (Srlionl) beat Allen (School); Savage (School) beat. .Tudil (School). Final: Savage beat Hughes. Fly-weight.—Final: Westbnry (Selwyn) beat Benjamin (Selwyn).
