MIDNIGHT CHASE

INCIDENT IN PONSONBY STATIONER'S .WINDOW SMASHED A man who smashed a window at the premises of Lockhart's, wholesale stationers, 128 Ponsonbv Road, shortly before midnight last night was disturbed by two men, and made his escape down Richmond Road., He had not been traced at an early hour this morning. The window was filled with stationery and toys, but it was not known last night whether any of the stock had been taken. The two men who disturbed the window smasher, Mr. Oliver Charles Tucker, of 126 Ponsonliy Road, and one of his employees, Mr. William McDougall, of .3 Pollen Street, Grey Lynn, were sleeping on Mr. Tucker's premises. They were awakened by the crash and saw the man making off down Richmond Road. They chased him without success.
