ANNUAL CONCERT

AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL MUSICAL COMEDY A FEATURE Music, drama, comedy and spectacle were well blended in the annual entertainment presented by the Auckland Grammar School before a large audience in His Majesty's Theatre Inst night. The overture "The White Rose," by Beyer, played by the school band, was well received. Displays, of physical drill were given by school gymnasium classes, and these included several rhythmic exercises, in addition to some'spectacular feats on the Itoinun rings and horizontal bar. A one-act drama, "The Pathfinder," based, on an imaginary incident in the life of David Livingstone, was presented by the. school dramatic club, and showed evidence of careful staging and rehearsing. G. G. Carter played the part of Livingstone, while S. R. McLean was a negro slave. The whole cast maintained the appropriate atmosphere. . A one-act comedy entitled "Too Much Monkey" was presented by the dramatic club, and Wagner's march "Under the Double Eagle" was played by the school orchestra. Tho remainder of tho programme was devoted to a' well-produced musical play entitled "Family Ties." Tho performances of the cast were of a high standard. A feature was the playing by a stage orchestra of some of the latest "swing hits" from overseas, the vocal refrain being sung by G. R. Carnaehan. The concert will ue presented again' tonight. '
