TRAWLER HELD UP
SEVEN WEEKS' DELAY FIREMEN'S NOVEL PLAINT EFFECT ON FISH SUPPLIES [by telegraph—OWN correspondilvt] ' "WELLINGTON, Tuesday The steam trawler Futurist has been idle at Wellington for about seven weeks as the result of the attitude adopted by certain of the crew. It was stated to-day that the trouble arose through the firemen, who had been on the vessel for about five or six weeks, objecting to sailing with a seamanfisherman who has been employed by New Zealand Fisheries. Limited, owners of the Futurist, for some years. The company took a firm stand aud the result has been that the ship has been held up here ever since. The company depends on the Futurist for about 60 per cent of its fish supplies and through the vessel being out of commission the quantity of fish available locally has naturally been affected. Costs have also been increased through the company having to get supplies of fish elsewhere aud because of this retail prices in some instances, it was stated this afternoon, had risen.
