ANNIVERSARY PARTY

BRANCH CELEBRATION The first anniversary celebration of the Morrinsville branch of the Catholic Women s League was hold in the Parish Hall recently. Many visitors were present, including Bishop Liston, the Rev. Father Silk, of Matamata, and the Rev. Father O'Doherty, of Morrinsville. They were received by the president, Mrs. T. J. Ryan, assisted by the vice-president, Mrs. M. Strevens. The entertainment programme comprised pianoforte solos by Mrs. A. Murdoch, Irish jig by Maureen Goonan, songs by Mrs. Johns, humorous elocutionary items by Miss N. Guinness, action songs and dances by Misses M. and J. Penniket. An amusing play was presented by the play-reading circle, thoso taking part being Mrs. Alexander Ford, Mrs. Goonan, Mrs. Milburn, Miss O'Brien and Miss Howard. Supper was served by the members. Jn reply to the speech of welcome Bishop Liston praised the work of the league and congratulated the Morrinsville branch 011 the progress it had made. Brief speeches were also made by several of the visitors.
