SUBMARINE DISASTER
HAMILTON SECTION SOLD PROCEEDS FOR RELIEF FUND [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday At an auction of a section of land donated by Mr. F. W. Bur ley, of Hamilton, for the dependants of the men who perished in the British submarine Thetis, the highest bid was £BO. The purchaser was a Hamilton solicitor, Mr. H. C. M. Norris. The bidding opened at £SO, Mr. Burley himself offering £7O. The section, which is situated in East Street, Claudelands, is about a quarter of an aero in area. The proceeds of tho sale Mill be sent to tho Lord Mayor of London's fund for tho dependants of the men who were lost in the disaster. Mr. Burlev had previously donated £IOO toward the fund. Tho services of the atictioneer and others engaged were given free and the section was cleared to make it more attractivo by boys from the Hamilton Technical High School.
