.FANCY DRESS DANCE MEMBERS AND FRIENDS CARNIVAL AIR PREVAILS The second annual fancy dross dance of the Yorkshire Society was held in the New Savoy Hall this week. Close on 200 members and friends were welcomed bv the president, Mr. ft- G. Stalev, and Mrs. Stalev. Also assisting as hostesses were the wile ol the \ icepresident, Mrs. J). Ashworth, and Mrs. H. Vnrian. The hall, which had been especially decorated for the occasion with multicolonred balloons, presented a carnival scene as the members and their guests, wearing costumes of many periods and nationalities, danced to music supplied by the society's orchestra. During an interval, Mr. Stale.y welcomed and introduced the presidents and secretaries of the following organisations: Men of Kent and Kentish Men's Society, the .Birmingham and Midland County Society, the Auckland Manx Society, the Cumberland and Westmorland Society, and the Lancashire Society. The evening's prizes were presented by Mrs. Staley as follows:—Fancy dress, Miss J. Mack roll and Mr. N. Gee (Spanish couple); Miss Gwen Whitmore (Early Victorian); Mrs. It. Banks (Madame Pompadour); Miss N. Mack (bag of blue); Mr. F. Clements (curate); Mrs. H. Caton (Mother Shipton); Miss Pat Stalev (clown). Lucky numbers, Mrs. R. Banks, Miss Gibbons. Mr. W. Walker. Monte Carlo, Miss Chapman and Mn Lockliurst; Miss Austin and Mr. Anstis.
