FAREWELL SOCIAL
A social evening to farewell Miss Molly Hillary, who will leave on Monday • for Scotland, via the United States, was bold by residents of Tatuanui and district this week. After a brief speech by Mr. W. Darrall. Miss Hillary was presented with two typically New Zealand gifts from the people of the district. One was a small wooden carving of a Maori warrior armed with a taiaha in lighting attitude, similar to the figure on the Now Zealand shilling, carved from a single piece of New Zealand wood, and the other was a bedroom clock set in a pawa shell in iridescent colourings of green and blue. Another presentation was a handbag and gloves to match. Air. R. Simmer, ol Pukekolie. replied for his niece, who also received a bouquet. Miss Hillary's marriage to Mr. John Barclay Chalmers will take place shortly alter her arrival in Great Britain.
