COOLER TEMPERATURES
The weather report find forecast forNew Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as f o |/' lows: —A series of westerly depressions - continued to cross the- Dominion, the centres of the individual disturbances being all located to the south. The forecast is for winds between north-wost and west predominating, but temporarv changes to south-westerly probable in western districts and the south; force moderate in the southern half of the South Island, otherwise moderate to strong and reaching gale force at times in the central portion of the country Seas rough on the west coast, slight to moderate on the east. Eastern Tasma'n Sea: Strong winds from between northwest and south-west, and rough seas The weather is likely to be changeable and showery in western districts and the south, with some snow probable on the ranges of the South Island. Mainly fair conditions are probable, however east of the ranges, but with occasional isolated showers. Temperatures becoming cooler, but no major cold chants probable.

Seas rather rough to rough. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Conditions were cloudT with occasional showers arid a fresh south-west wind. The maximum temperature was (j'-'j degrees and the minimum 51 degrees. Barometric pressure fell in the late afternoon and then recovered slightly. Barometer, midnight 29.71 in. (1006 millibars) Midnight, Thursday 29.77 in. (1008 millibari)
Wellington.—There was a strong northerly wind accompanied bv frequent showers. The maximum temperature was 55.0 degreed. At 3"p.m. the barometer reading was "29.27ui. (991.5 millibars).
Christchnrch. —The day was fine, hut dull. There was a brief shower in the morning. The maximum temperature was 50.8 degrees and at 5 p.m. the barometer was steady at 29.079 iii. ('981.7 millibars).
Dunedin. —The werither was overcast, but mild. Light showers fell during tlie morning, but conditions were clearer in the afternoon. There was practically no wind. The maximum temperature was 52 degrees. The barometer fell to 29.10 in. (.987 millibars). The following official report was issued at 4 p.m. yesterday:—
