. TERMS'/RESENTED 1 MEETING AT TOWN HALL . THE CARPENTERS' UNION LABOURERS TO ATTEND As a result of dissatisfaction over tho terms and observance of awards issued by tho Arbitration Court, a stopwork meeting called by tho Auckland Carpenters' and Joiners' Union will bo held at tho Town Hall at 8.30 this morning. A largo attendance of carpenters and joiners is expected, while the gathering will bo augmented by many general labourers, steel workers and other groups associated with tho building trade. The decision to hold a meeting as a protest against tho general conditions of tho award recently issued by the , Arbitration Court was reached by a mooting of 300 carpenters and joiners on Sunday. At a meeting of 350 members -"of the- Auckland General Labourers' Union at the Trades Hall last night it was decided to associate with the carpenters and joiners in their protest at tho meeting this morning. •The president of . tho union, Mr. L. I*. Bradley, presided. An Emphatic Protest At a meeting last week of tho General Labourers' Federation at Wellington consideration was given to tho new award for labourers, and it was held tho award was against the weight of 6videnco submitted to the Arbitration Court. The labourers' meeting was called last night to endorso a lino of action, and it was agreed that any protest should bo mado in conjunction with the carpenters. Those present at tho meeting included quarrymen. "This mass meeting of the Auckland General Labourers' Union enters an emphatic protest against the terms and conditions of tho new award issued for .quarrymen and builders' and contractors' labourers,", stated a _ resolution passed at tho meeting last night. we agree that all work iihall cease tomorrow, Wednesday, for the purpose of taking part in tho monster stop-work meeting of building trades workers to bo held in the Town Hall at 8.30 a.m." The Holiday Issue Another resolution carried was as follows: — . , "This mass meeting of the Auckland General Labourers' Union, having been deprived of any payment for statutory as well, as annual holidays in the now labourers' award, demands that tho Government bring down at the first session of Parliament its promised holiday bill providing for the aforementioned holidays, ns our members, beside losing much time owing to wet weather, resent being locked out for at ieast 20 other days during the course of the year."
