MB, NASH'S MISSION DENIAL OF HOSTILITY OBJECTIVES OF MINISTERS [IIV TF.LEGItA PIT —PKF.RS ASSOCIATION"] •\v E Uil Xr. TON, Tnt«(l ny A donia loft lio statement of tho City editor of tho London Daily lloriihi that some Now Zealand banks were known 1o bo hostile nnd working actively against the .Minister of Finance, Mr. Walter Nash, was made to-day bv the chairman of tho trading hanks, Mr. M. C. Addison. "Wp would simply refer the Daily Herald to the Prime Minister and to Mr. Nash," said Mr. Addison. 'Jn view of tho actual co-operation of nil six trading bunks in the slops taken to assist Mr. Nash's approach to the London market we cannot, believe that either Mr. Savage or Mr. Nash would approve any statement so misrepresenting the attitude of the trading hanks of Now Zealand in this connection." The Prime Minister to-day said the London press suggestions that Mr. Nash was seeking a loan of £6,000,000 for defence and fine of £10,000,000 for secondary industries and other purposes were simply guesses. Mr. Nash, In? said, went to hondon to make arrangements about the loan falling due. That was his first object. His second was to discuss trade relations with Britain and to get whatever relief he could to enable New Zealand to take more British goods than now. Mr. Savage said ho could not see any J?oval road to it or any definite amount. It was simply a matter of negotiation between a representative of the New Zealand Government and the authorities in Britain.
