MILK FOR SCHOOLS
SUPPLY DURING WINTER NO RISK OF SHORTAGE QUANTITY FRdM OUTER AREAS • "Members of the public and.of the council will be gratified in the knowledge that we have succeeded in maintaining the. supply of school milk in spite of difficulties. Nor is it anticipated that there will be any necessity to cut down the supply at all." stated the chairman, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, at a meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council yesterday. He referred to problems experienced in Wellington and .Taranaki in retaining the daily distribution of milk to schools. - Reporting on a meeting of treating house representatives to consider supplies of milk during' the winter, Mr. W. C. Neil, technical adviser, said it was estimated that 4400 to 4600 gallons ox milk would be required daily from outside sources. It had been decided to obtain this quantity from dairy factories at Aka Aka. Hauraki Plains, Waitakaruru and Matangi. Mr. Neil added that the most difficult period during the coming winter would be from the middle of June to the middle of July. However, the whole question of supply had been ' thoroughly investigated and there was no fear of any shortage.
