Friday The dispersal sale of Mr. George Hodgson's "Silverdale" pedigree \ Jerseys at Whakapara on Thursday attracted buyers from all parts of No:th Auckland. This stud is one of the oldest established in North Auckland. The basis of the herd was imported stock, the principal strain being that of the famous Majesty line, introduced through descendants of Majesty's Fox (imp.) and Soumise Majesty. The top price was 75 guineas, paid by Mr. . David Mclnnes, of Marua, for Woodend Laburnum, a six-year-old v.h.c. cow. Mr. F. Rusk, of Towai, paid 4.1 guineas for an eight-year-old cow, Bell Bird's Pet, and Mr. R. M. Sterling, of Matakohe, 13 guineas for a v.h.c. cow, \Vaiotama Primrose, bom in UJ3O. An eight-year-old, Wyndale Brunette, h.c., was bought by. Mr. D. J. O'Callaglian, of T.angowahine, for 89 guineas. Silverdale Golden Wings, six-year-old, went to Mr. H. R. Snell, for 23 guineas; Neat Annette, two-year heifer, 'JO guineas, to Mr. N. J. Newman; the same buyer took Silverdale Golden Vision, Q.I guineas, and Silverdale Pamela, for 26 guineas; Mr. A. Dnddy bought Silverdale Golden Leaf, v.h.c., eight-year-old, for 30 guineas; Kopipi Sunbeam, h.c., went to Mr. D. J. O'Callaghan, for 21 guineas; Silverdale Rosamond, h.c., nine years, 21 guineas, Mr. C. Thomas, Qkaihau; Silverdale Silver Fern, h.c., eight years, 20 guineas, Mr. M. Other female animals made up to 15 guineas, and were distributed to dairy farms in all parts of North Auckland. Best price for bulls was secured for Penrose Gallant, born in August, 1935, the purchaser being Mr. A. Wilson, of Ruawai, and tho price 51 guineas. Crystal Springs Bouncer, five-year-old. made 33Va guineas, the purchaser being tho estate of A. E. Bedggood, Waimate North; Silverdale Silver Reef, 18 months, sold for 2.1 guineas, to Mr. J. C. O'Connor. The catalogue, which consisted of II 1 head, was one of the largest offered in this district, and there was steady competition. The auctioneers were the North Auckland Farmers' Co-operative, Limited, in conjunction with Wright. Stephenson and Company. Limited. CLEARANCE AT ORAKAU Newton King, Limited, held a successful clearing sale on behalf of Mr. J. R. Cullen, Orakau, To Awamntu. Great interest was shown in the offering of breeding ewes, the line of 4.10 five-year ewes being keenly competed for to Jss 9d, with the four and sixtooth ewes to 21s 2d. Down-cross ewes realised 17s (id, and fat wethers, 19s. A line of fat black-face lambs brought 15s, with store black-face lambs at 9s. The offering of 00 dairy heifers met with good competition, top price being £lO. Early calving cattle realised from £S to UIO; other**. .CG 15s to £7 lOs: more backward sorls, £5 to iiO. The line of yearling heifers brought £'3. Keen competition was witnessed on the horses, a nine-year-old mare in foal realising £10; an aged maro, £3l; a three-year filly (unbroken), 4321 10s; two-year colt. £lB 10s; a threoyear gelding (unbroken). £l7. Friday With brighter competition in the store sheet) section at the Ma taw hero stock sale an improvement was noticed in the market compared with recent low rates. Values for fat sheep were well maintained, ewes with extra finish being in keen demand. Prices generally for ewes ruled from 7s to 12s Id, with second grade up to Os sd, and wethers to lis Od. The store sheej) market showed some improvement, competition being brighter than at recent sales. Some quality breeding ewes made from 12s to 15s Id. Lambs were a little better in value, good pens making Os to 8s 3d. Empty ewes,brought 4s 7d for a good pen of fat and forward, this price showing no improvement on late rates. Wethers went to 9s Gd for a good pen. Fifty pigs were yarded ai\d good sorts were in demand. The offering consisted mainly of good porkers and stores, no weaners being penned. Slips made 10s to 10s; small stores, 14s to 18s; fair porkers, 2-ls to 27s Gd; heavy porkers, 39s to 48s.

MARKET AT PUKEKOHE J, FROM OUR OWN CORRKSI'ONDKNT} PUKEKOHE, Friday An extra largo yarding of dairy cattle, including tlio advertised herd on account of Mr. A. It. Wright, Buckland, camo forward at the weekly stock sale at Pukekoho to-day conducted by Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited. Mr. Wright's herd was a choice ono, but low in condition, and averaged just under £7: The demand for all quality cows and heifers closo to profit was good, but backward sorts were hard to disposo of. The section for beef, boner and store cattle was well filled, but no heavy prime fat cattle were received. The demand was fairly good throughout in this section. DEMAND AT MATAMATA The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports having held the stock sale at Matamata, when a large entry of all classes of cattle came forward. Fat cows and heifers sold at' late rates, while boner cows were slightly firmer on recent quotations. Store rattle were rather dull of sale. Thero was a light yarding of all classes of pigs, the entry consisting mainly of unfinished sorts. Competition for baconers and prime porkers was keen and values fully up to recent rates. Unfinished porkers were dull of sale. In the store section the entry comprised mostly slips and weaneis, for which competition was very steady, with values on a par with recent quotations.
