NEW TE PUKE MAYOR

MR. J. BROWN ELECTED ONE NOMINATION RECEIVED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE PUKE, Thursday Nominations closed to-day for the office of Mayor of To Puke, a vacancy being caused by the resignation of Mr. Ben Keys. Mr. J. Brown, the present deputy-Mayor, was the only one nominated, and he therefore becomes the ne tv Mayor. Mr. Brown, who was formerly manager of the Te Puke branch of the New Zealand Loan anil Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, served as a member of the town board at its inception in 1911 and was elected to tho borough council at the last elections. His being elected Mayor necessitates a by-election for the council vacancy, the third to be held within a month.
