QUEEN MARY

CONDITION IMPROVING CONTINUOUS INQUIRIES THEIR MAJESTIES' MESSAGE LETTER TO LORRY DRIVER By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received May 26, 12.20 a.m.) LONDON, May 25 An official bulletin states that Queen Mary passed a restless night on Tuesday, partly due to the injury to one eye which, although painful, was causing no anxiety. She had a good night last night, the eye being more comfortable, and her general condition is improving. Sir Richard Cruise, surgeon oculist to Queen Mary, visited Her Majesty on Tuesday night and again yesterday. Queen Mary had an X-ray examination yesterday. There have been continuous inquiries and a long cablegram from Their Majesties. Continued rest for Queen Mary will be necessary for a fewdays. The following official medical report was issued at Marlborough House last night, says a British official wireless message:—"Queen Mary's progress is taking a satisfactory course, although stiffness and pain are troublesome. The X-ray examination excludes any damage to bones. Her Majesty's condition and her eye are improving." Queen Mary sent a letter to the driver of the lorry which was involved in the accident, thanking him for flowers which he sent with a note hoping for the Queen's speedy recovery. Queen Mary's letter added that she hoped the driver was none the worse for his experience. The Duke of Windsor is frequently telephoning from France, and hundreds of cables continue to arrive at Marlborough House from all over the Empire, including repeated messages from Their Majesties.
