ELLERSLIE WORK

FAST FOUR FURLONGS MON ACRE DISPLAYS DASH TOOLEY STREET IMPRESSES A fine seven-furlong effort by Tooley Street and a brilliant half-mile by Mon Acre were the outstanding gallops at Ellerslie yesterday. Others who, pleased were Alyth, Boy Lu, Tutor and Yalspear. The No. 2 grass track was open for fast work, the going being excellent. The hurdles were erected on the outside of the course proper, but only two horses were schooled over them. On the grass, Tybalt (Lardner) worked lazily over six furlongs in 1.23 4-5, the last three taking 425. Fleetwind (Gilchrist), Trevaco (Tremain) and Aero Queen (Sargent) finished abreast at the end of six furlongs in 1.18 4-5, tho last three taking 39 3-ss. Fleetwind and Trevaco were doing it well at the end, while Aero Queen displayed more dash than usual. Silver Quex (Cameron) could have improved considerably on her 1.25 1-5 for six furlongs. She is bearing a very solid appearance and should give a good account of herself in her forthcoming engagements. Aero King (McTavish) easily ran tho last half-mile of his work in 545. Miss Appellant (Ilearn), Tooley Street (Dulieu) and Melvanui (Foster) were to have gone seven furlongs in company, but Miss Appellant broke away six lengths in front of Tooley Street with Melvanui a similar distance away. Miss Appellant set a fast pace and was well clear into tho straight, but Tooley Street finished resolutely to beat her at the finish, with Melvanui several lengths away. As Miss Appellant recorded 1.30 2-5 it was an excellent effort on the part of Tooley Street, who directed attention to his prospects in the Cornwall Handicap, in which he has 7.13. Boy Lu Shapes Well Boy Lu (Gilchrist) ran tho last six of seven furlongs in 1.18, and the halfmile in 51 4-ss. Although ho was being kept up to his work at tho finish, Boy Lu went attractively for a novice. Ringshot (Bevan) was not required to do his best while running half a mile in 535. Arinacourt (Cameron) moved freely over five furlongs in 1.4 4-5, the last half-mile in 01s. She continues to train on satisfactorily. After running the first furlong in 12 4-ss, Alyth (Gilchrist) was going well at the conclusion of half a mile in 49 4-ss. Valmjnt (Wiggins) covered an easy, six furlongs in 1.29 4-5. Ho looks all the better for his race at To Rapa. King Musk (Bernie) finished better than Spinning Wheel (Messervy), fit the end of seven furlongs in 1.32 1-5, running the last three in 39 l-ss. The improving novice Elise (Cameron) got to the end of six furlongs in 1.18 2-5, the last three in 39 4-ss. Every Port (Sargent) was not bustled to run three furlongs in 38 3-ss. She is making pleasing progress.. The Trimmer (Bruce) sprinted half a mile in 50 2-ss. He has lately been troubled with sorenes. Surella (Parsons) was under a good hold whilo traversing six furlongs in 1.23 4-5. Royal Appellant (Kerr) was going easily alongside Bright Idea (Buchanan), and Mahala (flearn) at tho conclusion of a round in 1.48 3-5, the last six furlongs in 1.21 and half-mile in 54 l-ss. Royal Appellant appears to have sharpened up with the racing he had at Te Rapa and should be near his best for Ellerslie. Tutor and Ohmaha Tutor (Fearn) finished too well for Ohmaha (Cameron) at the end of a round in 1.47, running the last ' six furlongs in 1.19 2-5. Tutor worked well and has improved during tho last week or two. Llandaff (Dulieu) was going well within himself while running three furlongs in 37 2-ss. Ho shapes very promisingly. _ . Bonnybelle (Messervy) and British Talent (Wiggins) were companions oyer half a inile in 50 l-ss, both finishing stronglv. After running the first furlong iii 12 l-ss. Mon Acre (Sargent) recorded 48 4-5s for half a mile. It was a very smart effort and sho appears to have benefited by her racing at To Rapa, where she failed to show un. Valspear (Markwiek) finished solidly over the last six furlongs of a round in 1.17 2-5. _ , Tea Chat (Turvev) and Master Vaals (McGrath) were both stopping at the conclusion of a round in 1.48 3-5, the last six furlongs in 1.22 3-5 and halfmile iii 555. _ , Except for getting in a bit close, Luculli nation (Baker) cleared four ponv hurdles in encouraging style. Bisquit (Foster) jumped two hurdles proficiently and showed no ill-effects from his fall on Tuesday. Knight of Australia (Fergus) gave a careful display over four hurdles. Thrust (Williams) acquitted himself well in a similar task. On the course proper. Tupeotu (Sinton) and Rajanya (Smith) were associated in a schooling bout once round. Tupeotu drew out from his companion after jumping the second hurdlo and finished well clear after giving ji satisfactory display to record 2.21 3-5. Rajanya jumped very erratically.
