Speaking on behalf of the office staff, the chief clerk, Mr. .T. D. Stack, paid a tribute to the quality of Mr. Gormaek's work and made him a presentation.

At a social function in connection with the Papnkura Presbyterian Church the session clerk, Mr. ,7. I?. Wilson, presented the Rev. C. 11. Lowden, who lias resigned on account of ill-health, with a wallet of notes in appreciation of his work at the Papnkura Home Mission station. References to Mr, Lowden's successful ministry were made h.v Mr. K. 1). McLennan and Mr. R. Henderson on behalf of the managers. At a gathering of police officers from all- stations in North Auckland held in Whnngarei, Inspector P. J. O'Harn was farewelled and congratulated on his promotion to the position of superintendent at Dunedin. Senior-Sergeant A. Ilonderson, of Whnngarei, who presided, made tho presentation of a chiming clock on behalf of the officers. Tlio inspector suitably replied.
