FRANKLIN COUNTY VIEW NEEDS OF FARMING INDUSTRY [from our own coiirkscondknt] PUKKKOHTC, Thursday "With production in the country falling, these major works should lie deferred," said Mr. J. Dean at a meeting of the Franklin County Council, when a letter was received from tho Waiteinata Harbour Bridge Association requesting tho council to pass n resolution asking tho Government to expedite the holding of an inquiry, by a commission or otherwise, into tho question of the erection of tho Auckland Harbour Bridge. Mr. Dean explained that lie thought the national energies would bo more advantageously employed in coping with tlie position that was developing on fanning country, especially on marginal land, than in undertaking further major constructional works. It was decided to reply in terms of Mr. Dean's remarks.
