' Mount Albert.—An address on the ! war areas of China was given at the I monthly meeting by Mrs. Cassidy. Mrs. I Sugden presided and welcomed the prej sidont of the Silver Thread institute, l\both ladies receiving shoulder sprays. Items were presented by Mrs. Dean. Mrs Treadgold, Mrs. Mcßride and | Miss Brookes. Competitions were won as follows:—Banner, Mrs. 5 ' novelty, Mrs. Wlieaton. Mrs. Millar and Mrs. Bat kin were in charge of the sales table. Afternoon tea was served | bv members of the committee. ' Waimaiiku. —A travel talk was given i at the monthly meeting by Dr. Ma thei son. of Helensville. Mrs. L. I'oster ' n resided, and afternoon tea was served lEvthe hostess. Mrs. .1. Old. A com- ! petition was won by Mrs. 1 . Cane, i Whitford.—The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the institute:—President. Mrs. Wiles; secretary, Mrs. Granger; treasurer, ! Mrs Kinsella; committee, Mrs. Ha\ner. Mrs. Towell. Mrs. Ivershaw Mrs. Goodacre, Mrs. Kelln.fi, Mrs. Wade. A bring-and-biiy sale was held. Motukaraka. —Mrs. Nash presided at the recent meeting, and the making nf -i set of clothes tidies for travelling as demonstrated by Mrs. W. Searle Competition results were:—Laundered table cloth: Mrs. W. Searle, 1; Mrs. R Searle. 2. Balancing: Mrs. Nash, 1; iss Mabel Harding, 2. Afternoon tea U Ma mnva^ru.—-Mrs. Wangh presided nt the monthly meeting of the institute. and gave a talk on institute affairs to the new members. Mrs Davidson offered to take charge of the sales table. Competition results were: —Working apron: Mrs. 1; Mrs. Tyrie. 2; Mrs. Wangh. 3. Preserved peaches: Mrs. A. Neeve I; Miss Trebilco. 2; Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Huston. 3. Best bloom: Mrs. J. Wangh 1; Mrs A. Neeve. 2; Mrs. Parker, 3. Mlie hostesses were Mrs. K. Tyrie and Miss Trebilco. , . Hobsonville. —Arrangements for an exhibit table at the bi-annual conference wore made at the monthlv meeting Morrison demonstrated quilting and Mrs. Sullivan the mnkina: of Duchess sets in bairrun work. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. H. Ockleston.
