EARTHQUAKE SHOCK

EXPERIENCE AT WHAKATANE ROCKING AND RUMBLING £FRO.II OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHAKATANE, Monday A pronounced earth tremor, followed by a low rumble, was felt in Whakatano at about 5.35 o'clock this morning. It was particularly strong at Oliopo, where residents said it lasted for nearly a minute. From a faint shake, it developed into a rocking motion, which rattled windows and doors. No damage has been reported. A number of minor shakes have been felt lately.

REPORT FROM OPOTIKI AWAKENING OF SLEEPERS [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] OPOTIKI, Monday A sharp earthquake, lasting several seconds, was felt at Opotiki at 5.45 o'clock this morning. The shock was strong enough to awaken most sleepers.
