r FORMAL CEREMONY UNIVERSITY GRADUANDS LARGE number of guests One of the most important events in universitv life and one which marks the crowning of the year's work, is the annual graduation ceremony of Auckland University College, which took place in the Town Hall last night, before a large gathering of parents of "the graduands, and friends. The stage had been banked with golden chrysanthemums and green foliage. -Proceedings opened with a pioccssion Jcraduands hall; the women taring white frocks, with gowns and mortar boards. This was followed by the procession of convocation, in which we rc included the president and members of the staff, and after this came the official procession, in which were + }, e Mavor, Sir Ernest Davis, and the town clerk, Mr. J. Slelling. Addresses were given by Professor r W von Zedlitz, Professor Emeritus, Victoria University College, Sir. W. TT Cocker, president of the college, and Professor W. A. Sewell, chairman f the Professorial Board. The deLees were then conferred, each woman Lduand receiving a posy of flowers as she stepped off the stage. AFTERNOON RECEPTION GRADUANDS HONOURED UNIVERSITY FEDERATION The Auckland branch of the New Zealand ? Federation of University Women entertaiped this year's graduaiids at an afternoon party in the Milne and Choyce' Reception Hall yesterday. The president of the federation, Dr. Alexandra Warnock, wel- ■■ corned .the graduands and presented each with a Victorian posy of mixed flowers.

On behalf of the, members, a presentation of a book and a bouquet was made by Dr. Warnock to Sirs. W. H. )^. er » immediate past-president of H e Auckland branch of the federation. Airs.
