AIRCRAFT SHIPMENT

MACHINES FROM EGYPT ■ • ... . ARRIVAL NEXT MONTH FAIREY GORDON -BOMBERS The shipment of bombing aeroplanes from Royal Air Force depots in Egypt for the New Zealand Government will now be brought to Auckland by the Port Line steamer Port Sydney, due here on May 16. The New Zealand Shipping Company's motor-ship Orarr was reported to have left London recently for Egypt to load the machines, but as a result of engine trouble she has been replaced by the steamer. The Port Sydney left London on April 7, in ballast, for an Egyptian port, probably Suez, to load the aeroplanes. It has been officially announced that Fairey Gordon machines will be sent from Egypt. The Fairey Gordons, which are two-seater medium-range bombers, will be assembled at the Hobsonville air base.
