SALE OF YEARLINGS COLT REALISES 1300GNS. RELATED TO ROYAL CHIEF PURCHASE FOR NEW ZEALAND (Received April 11, 30 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 11 Spirited bidding marked tho opening of the yearling sales to-day. Top price of 1300 guineas was paid by Mr. R. Stewart for tho Dominion-bred halfbrother to Royal Chief, the colt being by Phaleron Bay from Modiste 11. Tho New Zealand bav filly by Phaleron Bay from Happy Returns, by Chief Ruler from Marion's Birthday, fetched 300 guineas. Mr. F. Williams paid GOO guineas for tho Veilmond-Spear Belle colt; Mr. R. Cobden paid 400 guineas for the Hall Mark-Spearette colt, Mr. R. Webster securing the Spearfelt-Amberline colt for 62.5 guineas. > A number of colts by Chatham realised from 110 to 325 guineas. A group of colts by Christopher Robin were in demand and ranged from 110 to 500 guineas. Tho Buzzard's slock commanded keen bidding, a colt from Gaysong being bought by Mr. E. Lawson for 625 guineas. Another, from Gold Frock, was knocked down to My. C. i Wheeler at 600 guineas. The colt" by Tho Buzzard from Calculate was acquired by the New Zealander Mr. W. Devon, for 525 guineas. Wrigjjt, Stephenson and Company, New Zealand, bought tho VeilmondVolumo filly for 95 guineas. VISITING HORSES TRAINING ARRANGEMENTS Tho majority of visiting horses who raced at Ellerslie at Easter are remaining to fulfil engagements at the Avondalo Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting on Saturday and Monday. The Hastings trainer S. J. Reid transferred Kathbella, Ivar and Nora Gregor to Avondale yesterday, while A. E. Cox has also arrived there with Rulette, Valvern, Hessketoon, Hunter's Night and Mandalay. F. Davis intends going over to-day with Coronation, Silver Stick and Pern. Candidates who will receive their final training at Ellerslie are De Friend, Casual,' Blonde Princess, _ Hunting Squire, Olympus, Beaurepaire, Royal Bachelor, Jilnori Song, Htinto and Vitement.
