AUCKLAND REPRESENTATIVES PIHA SEAGULLS BEATEN There was a good attendance at Blandford Park last evening when the Auckland baseball representatives beat Piha Seagulls in a return game. Both sides were at full strength and an exciting contest resulted. Seagulls opened with three runs and kept Auckland from scoring. The latter, however, improved and got five good runs, while Seagulls could only run one. Both sides showed out in fielding, but Auckland added four mure to gain h comfortable lead. The final innings saw both sides score and the margin in favour of Auck land was somewhat flattering. Bird and Carney shared Auckland's pitching and, with Lamb the catcher, were a formidable trio. Dell, as usual, was sound in the field and his anticipation saved several runs. Davidge hit hard and showed out with clever infielding. The outfielding honours were distributed between Nicholls and I orter the former ulso pleasing with a sound batting diS ßush was outstanding for Piha Seagulls, his infielding earning the applause of the crowd. Milne, on first bas,e. co-operated well with Oullen and Brinsden, who shared the pitching. Cleary. in the outfield, never let a ball go bv and excelled with accurate return? Lucas. Fraser and Preston ran well between bases. Following were tho scores;— Auckland Representatives.—o, 5, 0, 4, 0, 0, I—lo. Piha Seagulls.—3, 1, 0. 0, 0. 1, I—6. Mr. D. Buck was the umpire.
