LOCAL GOVERNMENT CAPETOWN PREPARING. [from our own correspondent] CAPETOWN, March 1 Plans are gradually taking shape for the celebration next year of the 100 th anniversary of local government at the Cape. Two items in the programme have already been agreed upon. These are » motor grand prix and an intex'national motor-car rally. The possibility of arranging for a visit of ships of foreign navies is aho being considered. Other plans under consideration are an international air race; a handicap air race confined to South African nationals; a visit of the band of H.M. Scots Guards, and the illumination of Table Mountain.
