REGENT THEATRE A new screen team, comprising Mickey Booney and Wallace Beery, is introduced in tho Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer production "Stablemates," which will be presented at the Regent Theatre to-day. Both these players give outstanding performances, and Rooney onco again justifies the of many critics that ho is one of the finest 'actors on the screen to-day. An added attraction will be tho appearance on the stage of Heather Wright, tho brilliant contortionist and acrobatic tap-dancer. An air mail review, a Pete Smith specialty and an "Our pang comedy complete a most enjoyable programme. CIVIC THEATRE A clever and entertaining comedy is provided in the screen version or George Bernard Shaw's successful stage production "Pygmalion," which is enjoying a successful season at the Civic Theatre. Leslie Howard gives one of. his greatest portrayals as an eccentric professor of phonetics "who accept a wager to alter the speech of a Cockney girl so that she will bo accepted at an ambassador's reception in three months' time. The experiment is successful, but the girl is then placed in a difficult position as 6he can neither return to her home in the slums nor hope to become a member of society. There is an interesting supporting programme. EMBASSY THEATRE The Columbia film "Holiday,'' in which Gary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, Lew Ayres and Doris Nolan have leading parts, will be shown at the Embassy Theatre to-day. An entertaining romantic comedy, "Say it in French," is to open a season at the Embassy Theatre to-morrow. Ray Milland is 'cast as a golfing champion who goes to Paris for a tournament, but tails to bring back any trophies. Instead, he arrives homo with ,a newlymarried bride to the astonishment of his parents. His father announces that in order to save the family business from ruin he must become engaged to the daughter of a financier. This complicated state of .affairs produces a number of hilarious scenes. Among tho supporting features to be shown are "Tannhauser," presented by the largest orchestra to appear on the screen, a sports film and a 1 opeyo cartoon. MAYFAIR THEATRE Well-remembered for their hilarious performances in "A Night at the Opera" and "A Day at the Races,the famous Marx brothers are equally entertaining in their latest picture "Room Service," which will continue its season at the Mayfair Theatre todav They take the parts of three play producers, who, although penniless, keep their company staying at an expensive hotel while they seek a sponsor for their production. A splendid comedy associato programme, including five short features, will also be shown. The players in these films are Edgar Kennedy, Leon Errol, Walter Catiett and "The Three Stooges, while "Mickey Mouse" is seen again in the Walt Disney cartoon Good Scouts."

STATE THEATRE Two Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer productions, "Toy Wife" and "The Chaser, head the excellent programme at the State Theatre to-day. Luise Earner has the principal rolo in the first film and it is not unlikely that she will win the Academy Award for the third time. Supporting her are Melvyn Douglas and Robert Young. In the second film, "The Chaser," the leading parts arc played by Denis O'Keefe, Ann Morris and Lewis Stone.

STAR CINEMA The attempts to solve the Irish question after the Great War provide the theme for the story in Beloved Enemy," 'which is included on the double-feature programme at the Star Cinema to-day. Brian Aherne and Merle Oberon have the chief roles. The second attraction is the Alexander Korda production "Elephant Boy," in which Sabu appears. STRAND THEATRE George Formby gives the most entertaining performance of his screen career in the English comedy "It's in the Air," which is to be presented at the Strand Theatre to-day. The film abounds with humorous situations, while attractive new songs add to the enjovment of the picture. Polly Ward, Garry Marsh and Frank Leighton have' supporting parts. STATE THEATRE, ONEHUNGA Adapted from the old fairy tale. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,' which is to be shown to-night at the State Theatre, Onehunga, provides fine entertainment. Short films make up the first half of the programme. BERKELEY, MISSION BAY Balanced entertainment is oifered at the Berkeley Theatre, Mission Bay, to-night. The films are "Sally, Irene and Mary" and "Bulldog Drummond's Peril." CRYSTAL PALACE THEATRE The two films to be shown to-night at the Crystal Palace Theatre are "Down the Stretch" and "Girl From Scotland Yard." STATE THEATRE, DEVONPORT Alice Faye has a singing role in the picture "Wake Up and Live," which is to be shown to-night at the State Theatre, Devonport, with the film "Without Orders." LONDON CINEMA The attractive double-feature programme "Desert Gold" and "Big Game" will be presented at the London Cinema to-day. TUDOR CINEMA The film "Having Wonderful Time" is the main item of entertainment' at the Tudor Cinema to-day. Varied supporting short features also will be shown. PRINCE EDWARD THEATRE The entertaining double-feature programme to be presented to-night at the Prince Edward Theatre comprises the films "My American Wifo" and "Hotel Haywire." PRINCESS THEATRE "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is the main item of entertainment to bo shown to-night at the Princess Theatre. Supporting short features also will bo shown.
